This Patriotic French Toast recipe for kids has me all excited for the 4th of July. Summer is in full swing. The kids are loving the sunshine and the freedom of not having to follow a school schedule . This means the 4th of July is fast approaching!
Parades, fireworks, town festivals, and family barbecues are all coming up to celebrate Independence Day.  These activities make this holiday a favorite of many.
It is always fun to start a holiday out with a festive breakfast.  This Patriotic French Toast for Kids is so fun to make, and the kids will enjoy designing their skewers as much as they will eating them.  It is a recipe that the whole family can join together in making.

Patriotic French Toast For Kids

Patriotic French Toast Skewers Ingredients
Ingredients:

2 eggs

1 cup milk

1 teaspoon cinnamon

8 slices of bread

fresh strawberries, washed and stems removed

fresh blueberries, washed

bamboo skewers

star shaped cookie cutter

powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Directions:

Preheat a griddle to 350 degrees. Coat with nonstick cooking spray if desired.
Mix egg, milk and cinnamon in a shallow dish.

Add bread, one slice at a time, and quickly dip into the egg wash making sure to coat both sides.

Place bread onto the hot griddle.

Heat for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove from heat.

Carefully using a star cookie cutter, cut each piece of french toast into a star shape. (Go ahead and enjoy the leftover pieces of bread.  They are a perfect snack to hold you over until the skewers are ready!)

Thread star onto a skewer with strawberries and blueberries.

Sprinkle powdered sugar on the stars.
